My people we don dey hear now say the Confederation of African Football, CAF, don postpone the AFCON wey suppose shele next year 2023 to 2024. Una know say next year AFCON suppose shele for Ivory Coast between June-July next year but now CAF don move am to January of 2024.

According to CAF, the reason why dem dey postpone AFCON again na because of weather and dat June/July go be the middle of rainy season for Ivory Coast. The rainy season dey bloody gan and e go affect the football wey dem wan play especially as our football pitches for Africa once small rain fall like dis, everything go turn to potor-potor.

CAF presido oga Patrice Motsepe don yan say dem no go even change the time back to January

Una remember say na since 2017 naim CAF don decide to shift the period of AFCON from January to June/July. The reason na say dat January dey clash with European leagues and since many African players dey play abroad, those clubs no dey too happy say dem players dey waka comot for middle of season when dem club really need dem.

But as e be now, e be like say even the June/July sef no kuku dey work again because for some parts of Africa na the middle of rainy season wey dey come with some serious bad weather. The last AFCON wey dem play for Cameroon suppose shele for June/July 2021 but in the end dem postpone am to January 2021 because of the same bad weather. And now the same thing don dey shele.

But as e be now, CAF presido oga Patrice Motsepe don yan say dem no get any plans to change the time from June/July back to January because dem wan to avoid any clash with European football. But even as e be now, many clubs for Europe don dey provoke already because dem African players go waka leave dem once dat time reach. Una remember say na dis same wahala make Jurgen Klopp call AFCON small competition.
